Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Clinical Associate to join our team at Cape Cod Hospital.

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Performs multiple clinical functions and specialized patient care duties in

accordance with established policies and procedures as an integral member of the

patient care team.

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.  Functions as a team member in the provision of care to patients and

    collects data for assessment of physical, psychological and social

    dimensions under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

 

2.  Collects and records vital sign information, reporting abnormal findings to

    the R.N. Collects and tests specimens on urine, stool, finger stick

    blood glucose and records results. Completes Q.C.'s as required.

 

3.  Performs phlebotomy, EKG's, Pulse Oximetry, and simple respiratory

    treatments without medication.

 

4.  Observes, measures and records I&O. Performs Foley Cath/Care.

 

5.  Assists patients with ADL's; personal hygiene, feeding, positioning,

    ambulating.

 

6.  Assists RN/MD with exams, procedures, and complex dressings.

 

7.  Applies hot/cold packs, TED's, pneumatic boots, binders, splints, ace

    bandages, soft restraints, etc., according to policy and procedure.

 

8.  Documents care appropriately.

 

9.  Keeps responsible RN informed of patient's care and condition.

 

10. Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested.

    Able to perform functions and duties in lower classification.

 

11. Satisfactorily completes education and training courses and attends

    continuing educational programs specific to the area or patient care unit

    of employment.

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Certified Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent (EMT, LPN, completion of one

year of nursing school program which includes two semesters of clinical

practice; military corpsperson). (E)  Current Basic Life Support Certification.

(E)  Successful completion of the Cape Cod Hospital written competency

exam for NA II. (E)  Basic Phlebotomy training program.(E) Basic computer

knowledge and skills.(E)  Flexible.(E)  Universal Precautions.(E)  Maintains

confidentiality.(E)
