Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Bilingual Medical Assistant to join our team at MACC.   

 

Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the department supervisor or designee, provide the highest standards of clinical support to the physician practice.  Delivers excellent customer service to patients through participation in a medical care team.  Demonstrates a high level of competence with clerical support.

 

Major Accountabilities

1.      Manages patient flow for clinicians.  Determines urgency and priority of walk in and add on patients, patient consults, etc.  Manages clinicians' daily schedule to expedite care and maximize clinical time.  Coordinates the practice when clinicians are not available, ensuring that telephone calls are triaged appropriately and clinicians receive necessary information.

2.      Monitors practice issues and problems and identify and solve concerns regarding patient satisfaction, patient flow, and compliance with procedures and guidelines.  Advocates for patients, as appropriate. Assists in resolving patients' concerns.

3.      Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.  Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs: blood pressure temperature, pulse, weight, and respirations. Inputs pertinent clinical information into medical record.

4.      Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department.  May advise patient of preparation required for exam or additional testing specific to the department and keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information.

5.      Ensures that exam rooms are prepared and/or maintained.  Cleans and/or maintains supplies and equipment.

6.      Provides clerical/office support as necessary.

7.      Order all medical supplies and maintain inventory.

8.      Retrieve calls from prescription line and complete refills as needed.

9.      Provides translation services to Internal Medicine Pediatric patients.

10.  Other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience/Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent.  Associate's degree in medical assisting or graduate of certificate program preferred.
  • A Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting preferred.  Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills required. 
  • Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Ability to speak, read and write Portuguese and English with proficiency. 
  • Must be a graduate of a Medical Interpreter's Course.
