Job Details

Our custom home builder is looking for an accomplished Estimator/Buyer.  We need an experienced, outgoing professional who understands and appreciates the camaraderie of a custom-building company, has above average math and IT ability, has an analytical mindset, has financial and project management expertise, and has proven ability in developing and maintaining productive and positive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and other team members.


The successful candidate will prepare construction budgets for homes, update specifications, identify and evaluate projected costs, maintain cost keys and price masters by updating information, maintain predicted cost of individual items at the estimating stage to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided, conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times; use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting, and create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate company officials and clients. 


Further, the successful candidate will develop prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings, identifying potential suppliers and new products, obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, negotiating price, contact a range of suppliers and sub‐contractors to obtain quotations and agreed delivery times, deal effectively with challenges with suppliers and sub-contractors, and the flow of materials to ensure compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials and services.  Reports to CFO.



Desired qualifications include 10 + years working in the residential and commercial construction industry, Bachelor’s degree in related field, exceptional ability to analyze information, develop project budgets, establish and maintain effective vendor relationships, above average reporting skills, above average estimating ability, effective at decision making and teamwork, above average documentation skills, and quality focus.  Additionally, thorough knowledge of construction materials and techniques is required, as is a familiarity with the typical costs of such products, knowledge of building codes, residential and commercial, and proven experience as estimator and buyer or similar position as described, Fluency in MS Office software, and familiarity and experience with Sage Timberline Office software desired.   Competitive salary and benefits package.
