Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Labor Relations Representative to join our team at Cape Cod Healthcare.

The Labor Relations Representative provides support and assistance to the Labor Relations team and HR Business Partners regarding collective bargaining agreements and labor relations issues. 



  1. Provides paraprofessional support to Senior Legal Counsel  and  the Labor Relations team; 
  2. Triages early stage labor relations issues (e.g., contractual inquiries and union information requests) and supports basic investigations;
  3. Assists with case preparation  and file organization for union arbitrations and  other legal matters before administrative and judicial bodies including the National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission,  Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination,  Occupational Safety & Health Administration, and Department of Industrial Accidents;
  4. Assists with insurance claim reporting on employment matters including the organization and maintenance of case files;
  5. Assists with the collective bargaining process with review of contracts, data collection, document preparation,  and  preparation of bargaining session minutes;
  6. Participates in the union grievance process, including fact-finding, scheduling, responding to  information requests, answering grievances, and assessing the types and frequencies of actions;
  7. Assists  the Labor Relations  and Employment Services teams with  specific department reorganizations, ensuring adherence to required notice and contractual procedures;
  8. Maintains  the  Labor Relations database and manages reports submitted to the collective bargaining units;
  9. Develops a strong partnership with Employment Services team and assists with fact-finding and review  of corrective action in accordance with applicable policies;
  10. Provides assistance and support on development of labor management education programs and communication materials; working with Organizational Development staff, participates in the delivery of basic labor management education;
  11. Follows labor relations trends in Healthcare and keeps Labor Relations team apprised of various changes;
  12. Assists with promoting a healthy labor-management relationship.


·       Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Labor Relations, or other field; 

·       Minimum of two years'  experience in Industrial Labor Relations, Human Resources, or Paralegal work

·       Knowledgeable regarding labor/employment law and the principles and techniques of labor negotiations

·       Knowledge of human resources principles, policies, and regulatory issues

·       Excellent organizational and time management  skills

·       Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills  

·       Ability to work independently, take initiative,  and  collaborate  as a member of a team fostering a cooperative working environment

·       Ability  to  work on multiple initiatives concurrently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment

·       Ability to produce a quality work product in an efficient manner

·       Ability to perform duties with outmost discretion and maintain confidentiality within the Department of all communications, matters and documents as required 

·       Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint


The physical requirements of this position include, but are not limited to, a mostly sedentary environment and significant time working at a computer time with occasional bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
