Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Manager, Outpatient Surgery Center, to join our team at MACC.

Responsible for the daily oversight of all operational and clinical activities.  Supervises all surgical and ancillary staff including; Registered Nurses, Surgical Technicians, Sterile Processing (SPD) technicians and ancillary staff.



·       Develops appropriate admission and discharge criteria in accordance with Physicians orders, policy and procedure and ensures pre admission criteria are met.

·       Develops proper clinical procedures that ensure patient safety, comfort and quality.

·       Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to appropriate team members.

·       Monitors customer service feedback and contributes to the process of resolving complaints and service issues.  

·       Collaborates with perioperative and procedural area leaders developing strategic plans and initiatives, departmental program directives and business assessments for capital purchases.

·       Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure personnel policy development and communication to staff to achieve consistency in employee relations. 

·       Collaborates with Perioperative and Procedural area leaders to prepare, coordinate and monitor clinical and departmental budgets.

·       Assures compliance with all Clinic policies and procedures and governmental regulations pertaining to:

  • Controlled substances and legend drugs, including sample medications. 
  • Infection control. 
  • Patient confidentiality. 
  • CPR, ACLS, safety and risk management
  • Quality improvement and quality assurance. 
  • Emergency codes and evacuation 
  • Professional licensure 
  • DPH, CMS, JCAHO and all other voluntary and regulatory requirements. 

·       Works to develop and implement avenues to grow patient volumes and to drive staff compliance to rolled-out initiatives.

·       Identifies cost reduction strategies in the management of procedure cost profiling, human and material resources.

·       Builds collaborative teams that strive for continuous improvement and business results that meet/exceeds facility and department expectations.

·       Develops procedural and surgical volumes and projections consistent with strategic plans and services

·       Monitors processing of equipment

·       Evaluates and reconciles any equipment, service or product purchases

·       Assists in the development of management cost reporting of expenses, corporate savings programs and recommendations for further "cost cutting" opportunities

·       Oversees and reports out on equipment issues

·       Provides data and presentation materials based on the key service line elements of; finance, strategy, access, recruitment, marketing, regulatory, patient satisfaction and process improvement. 

·       Presents leadership with a monthly overview of the centers operations

·       Consistently evaluates effectiveness of processes through the use of data.

·       Establishes and maintains communication within the service line and with other hospital departments.

·       Serves as resource and role model for staff.

·       Selects and hires employees according to established guidelines. Monitors, coaches, develop and evaluate

·       Attends regular service line meetings as needed

·       Maintains departmental scorecards and reports out any variances to service or budget

·       Completes employee evaluation and competencies by their due date

·       Assists in the orientation and training of new and staff as needed

·       Participates in department inventory as requested

·       Develops relationships and professional affiliations as appropriate.

·       BA/BS required- Master's Degree in Nursing, healthcare administration or related field preferred.

·       CNOR certification required

·       ACLS within 6 months of position and must maintain certification

·       3-5 years of progressive leadership in surgical services required

·       Proven communication skills

·       Able to create and utilize training materials for continued staff development

·       Ability to adapt to rapid change

·       Current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

·       Current Basic Life Support Certification.
