The Financial Aid Office Assistant supports administrative functions within the Financial Aid Office.  The Office Assistant must enjoy working with people, have the ability to pay close attention to detail with frequent interruptions, and communicate complex requirements and college policies in a simple and friendly manner.  The role requires strong listening skills and the ability to interpret situations and provide appropriate direction.  


1.    Explain the documentation requirements that are pertinent to the application process.
2.    Document conversations and actions with applicants in the Powerfaids software system.
3.    Review applications for completeness and enter data into appropriate student information system software.
4.    Route folders and application materials to appropriate office staff.
5.    Maintain and file documents within office filing system for multiple processing cycles.
6.    Assist applicants in person and by phone regarding their application status.
7.    Assist applicants in the completion of a wide variety of forms and online applications required for varied financial aid resources.  
8.    Other duties as assigned.



1.    One year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in office administrative support.
2.    Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills, including the ability to work calmly and patiently with students, parents, referral agencies and members of the College community.
3.    Ability to assist with online applications and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, EXCEL, Outlook, ACCESS).  
4.    Strong organizational skills including ability to multi-task and properly maintain data.
5.    Detail oriented and able to assess the validity of materials received for completeness and authenticity.
6.    Ability to adhere to the College’s strict confidentiality guidelines and FERPA regulations.
7.    Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and as part of a team.


1.    Associate degree or coursework at a community college.
2.    Office experience in a college setting.

COMPENSATION:  $13.48 per hour, 18 hours per week.  Part-time, non-benefited, Non-unit position.
