Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Pathology Secretary to join our team at Falmouth Hospital.   



Under the general direction of the Laboratory Manager, transcribes and assists with the administrative and clerical needs of the department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Must be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.
  2. Assists with the Anatomic Pathology administration.
  3. Files and transcribes for Surgical Pathology/Autopsy.
  4. Enters surgical path inpatient orders.
  5. Review surgical path case history.
  6. Files and transcribes for cytology.
  7. Types general correspondence/communication.
  8. Maintains slide labeling process for Histology/Cytology.
  9. Prepares and transcribes conference/QA reports.
  10. Responsible for morgue administrative duties.
  11. Assists with A/P module installation.
  12. Distributes reports.
  13. Completes clinical laboratory administrative work as assigned.
  14. Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times.

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Must have taken and successfully passed a Medical Terminology Course or successfully pass FH's Medical Terminology test with a score of 80% or better and have equivalent knowledge gained through one year Medical/Pathology transcription.
  • Must be proficient in word processing and typing. Strong interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills required.
