Hours: 80pp, 12a-8a, every other weekend, every other holiday

Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Senior Security Officer to join our team at Falmouth Hospital.

To coordinate the daily activities of the Security Department staff and to work cooperatively and communicate politely with department heads, employees, staff, patients, visitors, and all other personnel working in or around the facility.  Maintains quality control and compliance with local, state, OSHA, JCAHO, DPH, and DPS standards and regulations.



Perform all duties and accountabilities of the Security Officer.  In addition, the Lead Security Officer will:


  1. Ensures effective daily department operations and participate in the staffing process to ensure adequate staffing, including but not limited to, scheduling replacement officers for shifts as necessary.
  2. Relieve and assist other officers if needed.
  3. Coordinate and monitor officers' activities in their assigned areas.
  4. Assess work performance and make recommendations.
  5. Provides feedback to management on any issues and problems impending work flow.
  6. Work effectively with Security management to problem-solve issues and implement recommended solutions.
  7. Assist in implementing in-service education and training programs for staff as designated by management.
  8. Review reports submitted by Security Officer's for completeness and accuracy.
  9. Assure all CODE situations are properly responded to and documented.
  10. Check all Security equipment and report any problems.
  11. Review all previous shift reports for any needed follow-up.
  12. Communicate with Security or Hospital supervisors/managers and exchange all necessary data and information on a daily basis.
  13. Notify Hospital department managers, supervisors, and/or charge nurses where Security services may be needed.
  14. Attend meetings and classes as required.
  15. Implement any new or revised departmental or Hospital policies and procedures as required, and ensure new procedures are explained and implemented by the officers.
  16. Perform other duties as designated by management

§  High School Diploma or GED required.

§  3 years experience as a Security Officer preferred.

§  1 year prior experience as a Healthcare Security Officer preferred.

§  Two years of college or equivalent experience in a related field, including but not limited to military, police, and corrections preferred.

§  Current valid MA driver's license.

§  CPI certified and current CPR certification. CPI (Crisis Prevention) within 4 months of new position and must renew annually.

§  MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) training within 4 months of new position and must renew every 2 years.

§  Successful completion of the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) basic and advanced certification program or completion of these programs within 1 year of employment.

§  Must have good writing and verbal skills and have the ability to produce a concise, accurate, and well-written report.

§  Demonstrated record and ability to perform in a "team" oriented environment, must possess distinctive leadership qualities in coordinating personnel, monitoring and reporting progress, situational decision making, and must discourage interference among co-workers.
