PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To schedule surgeries and appointments for the practice and provide clerical/secretarial and customer service support to the physician's practice.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedule Surgeries appointments for the practice.  
  2. Obtain reports of lab work, x-ray, EKG's reports by primary care doctor, cardiologist, etc. and fax to the Hospital.
  3. Pre-certify the surgery with insurance company as required by insurance company and procedure.
  4. Communicate with referring providers regarding scheduling and completion of surgeries.
  5. Check-in and check -out patients as needed; verify and obtain insurance and demographic information, collect co-payments, make follow-up appointments.
  6. Answering patient phone calls and triage of phone calls which need to be forwarded to clinical staff/MD.
  7. Perform other essential work related duties as requested/directed.  Demonstrate the ability to adjust to unexpected changes to assure that all responsibilities / duties are met during absences or increased patient volumes.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Experience in a medical office setting with at least 1 year experience. 
  • Medical Terminology knowledge preferred. 
  • Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. 
  • Experience of current office technology, proficient in computer office application, experience with electronic scheduling system and electronic medical record applications strongly preferred.
